How to take care of your skin after peeling?
Peelings have a sensational effect on the skin: they rejuvenate, thicken and refresh it, help to fight against imperfections. The best results are achieved by those which are selected by the doctor after consultation with your skin. But remember, their effectiveness largely depends on you and how you treat your skin after the treatment.
It's not like the un-lubricated peeled skin will peel off faster! On the contrary, after the acid treatment, it is very important to lubricate your face with a suitable cream. Why would I do that? For three reasons.
- It soothes possible post-surgical effects, such as itching or burning of the skin.
- It softens the epidermis and helps in the separation of dead cells and generally supports regeneration.
- It helps to care for "fresh" skin.
It can be said that this new tissue is "defenceless" until the reconstruction process is completed, because there is not yet a fully developed protective layer. It is therefore very sensitive to external factors and is exposed to rapid evaporation of water. He needs to rebuild his hydrolipid coat as soon as possible, which is very helpful with creams. How to choose the right product for skin care after peeling? The main rule is that after medium deep and superficial peelings we intensively moisturize the skin, after deep peel we oil it properly. - The skin after peeling is more absorbent, it is worth taking advantage of this fact and apply good quality creams, preferably those recommended by a doctor or cosmetologist.
Use a high-filter cream
After peeling, the skin is particularly sensitive to the sun. If you don't protect it properly, you can overpay it with discolourations, and it's hard to fight them. People after a chemical peel should use a cream with a high filter of 50 SPF, regardless of the season. In this way, they protect the skin against possible complications after the treatment, which can be caused by the sun, but also have an anti-aging effect, because sunlight is the main factor causing accelerated aging.
Do not peel off flaky skin
We know he's tempting. The protruding fragments of the epidermis ask to "help" them to exfoliate... It's not worth it! Pulling off the epidermis can have fatal consequences. In this way you can damage your skin and inflammation will prolong the healing process. Moreover, such action may result in scars or post-inflammatory discolourations. The same applies to the use of preparations with abrasive particles - in no way should we mechanically accelerate exfoliation, we must arm ourselves with patience. The end result will make it up to us.
Give up the foundation, the flaking will be visible to me.
You want to hide flaky skin, but if you apply a foundation to it, you'll be able to see more of the peeling skin. If you need to apply makeup, it is better to use a BB cream or a delicate foundation applied to the skin, lubricated with a greasy cream.
Enjoy the series
Peelings are treatments that should be performed in a series. Effects after peeling are cascading, another treatment strengthens the effect of the previous one. After the first peeling you may even notice a deterioration of the skin condition. It often happens that soon after peeling, pustules and inflammation appear. This is a signal that the skin is cleansing itself and the treatment should be repeated. Another symptom that indicates that it is worth using the series is that after a peeling peel, the skin almost does not peel off. That doesn't mean the peeling doesn't work. Probably the horny layer is very thick and the peeling should be repeated.
