EKO and BIO in industry
Do ecological and biological terms differ in meaning? No, they are equivalent and mean the same, agriculture that is based on the same principles. Each country chooses one term that it consistently adheres to. In Poland, this is organic farming, although we can also find organic food, for example. Organic food should come from certified organic farms and processing plants. Such farms focus on the production of safe, high quality food while maintaining a good environmental status, taking care of the soil, water and air. It is forbidden to use synthetic mineral fertilizers or pesticides. This is why the soil is fertilized with natural fertilizers. As a result, products which do not bear that mark are likely to come from mass processing, which is based on synthetic means of production.
The Greek Trade brand also offers ecological products, such as the BioOaza series, which includes broths without sodium glutamate and without gluten, organic sesame, organic halva, organic sesame oil, organic walnut and cocoa cream, organic almonds and sunflower, organic pasta made from durum wheat, organic rice, organic olive oil and grilled pepper.
