What does a visit to an endocrinologist-gynecologist look like?
A visit to the endocrinology and gynaecology clinic does not differ much from the following a standard visit to a gynaecologist. So it starts with a thorough interview. When preparing for such a visit, she should remember the date of her first period. Also remember how long your cycle is. The next step is the gynecological examination. Therefore, before your visit, remember to take a shower. Do not use soap or gel to clean intimate areas. During your visit you will also have an ultrasound of your ovaries. It's gonna be a transvaginal ultrasound.
What kind of tests can an endocrinologist or gynaecologist give us?
Before visiting the clinic it is worth to do a blood morphology and thyroid hormones level test. The focus on both of these examinations will be given by our family doctor. After an interview and a gynaecological examination, the doctor may also order additional examinations. In the endocrine and gynaecological outpatient clinic we can receive a referral to the hormone level examination:
- prolactin;
- androgens;
- estrogens.
Of course, the tests that the endocrinologist-gynecologist will commission us with may be different. It all depends on the problem with which we report to the clinic. The list of diagnostic tests may therefore also be included in the list of diagnostic tests:
- laparoscopy and diagnostic hysteroscopy;
- endometrial biopsy;
- an MRI;
- CT scan.
Menstrual disorders, puberty hormonal disorders, infertility, menopause-related ailments and even excessive hair or acne are just a few of the diseases with which we can report to the endocrinology and gynaecology clinic. At every stage of our lives, each of us can receive help by contacting an endocrinologist-gynecologist.
